Portugal Impact Group

The Portugal Impact Group was launched in October 2013, after a SIAA and Stone Soup Consulting event at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, to bring together key stakeholders from across the NGO sector, public sector, private sector and academia to support the development of the social impact agenda in Portugal.

What is the purpose of the group?

A user-led peer-support group for social impact analysts, or for those who are new to the discipline and require an introduction;

A forum in which to exchange experiences, best-practice and useful resources;

A networking opportunity for those interested in this agenda, with an audience spanning the voluntary sector, public sector, private sector and academia;

A chance to engage with key debates around use of evidence and social impact, and to learn from what is happening elsewhere; and

A means of advocating for a more systemic embedding of social impact measurement and analysis in Portugal.

What is the group doing?

The group holds regular meetings attended by members to share and discuss their experience, build knowledge of best-practice and debate the state of the art of social impact in Portugal and advocacy approaches. The group is also planning joint initiatives such as the organization of public events and the translation of existing guidance.

Who is involved?

During 2015, the group is steered by Stone Soup Consulting, an Organizational Member of Social Value International, Fundação EDP and Operação Nariz Vermelho.

The group is open to a range of people in Portugal including impact analysts, professionals and leaders of NGOs, for profit companies, public entities and academics working around social impact.

The group has had several participants but now includes members from organizations such as ADENORMA, Águas de Portugal, Core, Ethical, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Sector 3, Sustentare, OIKOS and WACT, as well as the Steering Committee members, Stone Soup Consulting, Fundação EDP and Operação Nariz Vermelho.
